Happy New Moon! She is so timely, coming so close to the New Year. Even though we cannot see her, the Capricorn new moon (January 5), combined with a partial solar eclipse sets the scene for new beginnings, my fave. Being in Capricorn, the moon energy supports focus, ambition, and discipline. This moon is a hologram and portal for the next two years. The new moon occurs every twenty-eight days, providing us with a monthly opportunity to begin again, review our intentions, and breathe in the new energy that enhances our inner and outer projects.
I started a New Moon Journal (only for the new moons) about a decade ago. On the new moon, I create three lists: 1) things I want to let go. 2) things I want to add. 3) things for which I am grateful. The point is to spend some thoughtful time to think over my life and state the things that influence my life, and close the journal until the next month. They are not lists to invite the critic, by the way. If you have a Higher or Deeper Power, the Universe, the Goddess or God, or your own heart, give it to that energy/being/source.
Sometimes, I do look over the preceding years and think “Wow, look at how that manifested!” Or “Jeez, I am really glad that did not manifest!” The new moon lists are simply another way to put thought and intention into our lives. A plan. It’s a plan we can give over to let that other source to deal with.
From my astrological resources, the BIG theme of this Capricorn new moon is letting go of that which no longer serves us. marie kondo, who wrote Spark Joy, guides us in the letting go process: Does it, does this bring you joy? If not, let it go…
The process is to include more than material things, ie stuff. It’s to include beliefs that no longer work for us, work habits that are self-destructive, relationships that take rather than mutually give, food that don’t feed, and myriad other phenomena that do not give us joy.
I love the new moon, the lists, and the opportunity to think about and become aware of the path, my life that I am creating every day. I can, through self-reflection and self-care, create more joy.
Peace
Gabrielle
